Photosynkyria exhibitions and events are held in various locations in Thessaloniki, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Gallery of Greece and many others. Events and exhibitions are also held in the historic district of Kavala and other parts of the city.

Created in 1960 as Greek Cinema Week, the festival is known for presenting some of the most innovative and independent films in the world.

The Thessaloniki International Film Festival, held every year from October to November in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece, is the most important film festival in Southeast Europe. The many ancient sites of the city, which was elected European Capital of Culture in 1997 and organises numerous important festivals and events throughout the year, offer a great opportunity for the development of film, music, literature, art and culture in Greece and Europe.
The event presents films by Greek and foreign filmmakers and features a wide range of films by the world's leading directors, producers, cinematographers and film directors.
